The Commission continues to receive positive feedback from members of the public for its sustained radio publicity programmes on seven radio stations in the country.
The inaugural radio programme was launched in February 2021 on ZBC`s national radio station, Classic 263. The broadcasts have since been expanded to include other stations such as Breeze FM in Victoria Falls, YaFM in Zvishavane, Diamond FM in Mutare, Hevoi FM in Masvingo, Nyaminyami FM in Kariba and ZBC’s national station, Radio Zimbabwe.
The radio programmes have been instrumental in disseminating electoral information during the two phases of mobile voter registration for delimitation and the 26 March 2022 by-elections.
As at 17 June 2022, Classic 263 had broadcast a total number of 64 episodes bringing the total number of ZEC programmes broadcast on all seven radio stations to 198. Ever since the commencement of the radio programmes, the Commission has been receiving some positive complements on that publicity initiative. The Commission has responded to many frequently asked questions from listeners.
The electoral management body is buoyed by such positive feedback hence it will continue to use radio among other strategies, to propagate information on its mandate and major programmes for the benefit of the electorate and other stakeholders.
