The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission scooped the first prize at the 2021 Matabeleland South Agricultural show held in Gwanda. The Commission excelled in the Parastatals and Quasi Government exhibition category. It was the second consecutive year the Commission won gold in that category.
The Matabeleland South Provincial Elections Officer, Mr Rabson Nyoni who led the winning team attributed their success to team work. He said his team trains and acquaints itself in all electoral processes ahead of the exhibition. He selects eloquent and confident stand directors and makes them presentable in branded ZEC attire. Mr Nyoni also ensures that the Commission’s banners are strategically positioned both outside and inside the stand.
The tent exhibition displayed the Commission’s commitment to democratic principles through an inclusive, transparent and impartial approach to the country’s electoral activities.
The Commission won the second prize in the Mashonaland Central show exhibition. Provincial Elections Officer, Ms Thenjiwe Mkandla and her team displayed the polling process and the electoral cycle. In addition, they had a voters’ roll search facility and conducted voter registration at the stand.
The Commission settled for third place in Mashonaland West Province. Led by Provincial Elections Officer, Mr Austin Ndlovu, the commission conducted voter registration at the stand. A desk was also established for information committed to delimitation.
